Architect Peter Ippolito of Ippolito Fleitz Group transformed this two-story, 3,230-square-foot maisonette in Stuttgart for himself and his partner, textile designer Stefan Gabel. The space teleports visitors to varied and exotic places, filled as it is with Chinese vases, Maneki-neko, Laotian textiles, and African masks. The suggestion of greenery is omnipresent while weaves galore (in silk wallpaper, Uzbek ikat, Indian textiles) add yet more atmosphere. The result is that every room is a tableau vivant.
In the living room, curves abound—from the Marcel Wanders floor lamp to the iconic and pastel leather sofa. Groovy chairs and a simple wedge of a coffee table perch on the multi-colored and plush color block rug.
