Mediterranean meets Modernist in a Houston home by Rottet Studio.
Indoor-outdoor spaces, natural materials, and sunlight filtering in–plus the relaxed feeling these ele-ments provide–was the concept by Rottet Studio. Limestone masses linked by glass and steel meet stained-oak millwork and coffered ceilings.
Floors are oil-darkened walnut or more limestone; walls are Venetian plaster. Furniture is spare, simple, and largely custom–or customized. The wool-upholstered sofa and glass-top coffee tables float on a vast island of a tex-tured rug.
The industrial palette is an interesting counterpoint to the large garden just outside the glass-and-steel wall.
